Federica Scaffidi organised Roundtable at the AESOP conference in Paris
The 2024 annual conference of AESOP European Association of Planning Schools is at Sciences Po in Paris, 8–12 July 2024, with the title “Game Changer? Planning for just and sustainable urban regions”. 1177 participants attended the conference. Federica Scaffidi - researcher and lecturer at the Chair for Territorial Design and Urban Planning - organised together with Sara Özogul the Roundtable "Governance and urban regeneration for sustainble communities”.
Governance and sustainable urban regeneration are inextricably linked, and a multidisciplinary approach is essential for addressing the complex challenges of revitalizing urban areas while promoting sustainability. Effective governance mechanisms, such as public-private partnerships, community engagement, property market dynamics and transparent regulatory frameworks, are pivotal in guiding and shaping sustainable urban regeneration initiatives. Integrating diverse disciplinary perspectives ensures that these projects address sustainability's social, economic, and environmental dimensions, ultimately creating vibrant and sustainable communities.
This roundtable aims to initiate a discussion about governance and urban regeneration, addressing the current environmental, social and economic crises that cities are experiencing and promoting new scenarios for their transformation.
This roundtable welcomes experiences, case studies and new strategies for future urban spaces and assets, following these three key questions:
